Utilizing Acupressure Methods founded in Traditional Chinese Medicine For the Equine Athlete and Small Animals
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient form of Asian medicine which has evolved from over 4,000 years of observation and application of healing techniques. TCM views the animal’s body as an integrated whole in which physical symptoms are a manifestation of imbalance in the body. As such, TCM was originally developed as a preventative form of therapy. Acupressure is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine that applies the same principles as acupuncture but stimulates the acupoints by utilizing light pressure from fingers, elbows or other implements rather than needles. Observation and history are used to develop a session specific to that animal’s needs.
Acupressure is not a replacement for veterinary care and an animal acupressure practitioner cannot diagnose or treat illnesses. |
